  • 2026 Spring Concert - Gounod St Cecilia Mass 28th March

    Our Chair has written:
"Our Gounod concert turned out to be another fabulous evening, under Simon’s brilliant leadership. We had an 80-piece orchestra, meaning that 7 rows of pews needed to be taken out to make way for the orchestra to be accommodated. We sat on the risers as usual, and behind the orchestra, but the solo singers, Gail Pearson, Robert Felstead and Robert Marson sat in the middle of us, so we had the great pleasure of being able to hear them at close quarters. It is a rare occasion that Gounod’s St Cecilia Mass is performed, exactly because of the size of the orchestra required, and as we were working with the excellent City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra, an amateur orchestra, it was affordable to us and we were enormously proud to be able to perform this work in a ‘co-production’ with CCSO. We will work with them again".
